The Species We Work With

Our timber is selected from trusted sources worldwide for quality, security and continuity of supply, and held in stock in almost every common size. Below are some of the species behind our products.

Red Meranti

Pink-brown to deep red or purplish brown with fine resin streaks; interlocked grain and easy to work. A favourite for mouldings.

Merbau

Orange to dark red-brown, deepening with light exposure. One of the most stable hardwoods in the world and a benchmark for durability.

Bangkirai / Yellow Balau

Yellow to reddish brown; Europe's preferred species for decking.

Red Balau

Light to dark red-brown, naturally resistant to decay, mould and insects; the go-to decking species in the USA.

Rubberwood (Hevea)

Creamy white, warming to light brown over time; widely used for furniture, stair treads and glue-laminated panels.

Keruing / Apitong

Red-brown and naturally durable; versatile for trailer decks, sleepers and marine plywood.

Kapur

Red to pink-brown with a faint camphor scent; a durable decking and cladding timber.

Kempas

Red-brown weathering to orange or yellow-brown; a striking, exotic colour for decks and flooring.

Sapele

Closely related to African Mahogany, with a rich dark red-brown heartwood and excellent durability.

Teak

Golden yellow-brown, naturally water-resistant and prized for yacht decking and premium flooring.

Plantation Mahogany

Attractive reddish brown, durable, and grown from renewable plantation sources.

Iroko

A durable West-African hardwood that needs no preservative treatment — an economical, ecological choice for outdoor use.
